# Personal and shared accounts

> Keep personal plans and household budgeting in the right account.

Set Aside Money supports personal and shared budgeting accounts. Select the account you want to work in before reviewing balances or changing an Expense.

A Set Aside Money account is your budgeting space. A connected bank account is a source of balances and transactions within that space.

## Budget together

In a shared account, household Expenses, funding schedules, and transactions belong to the shared plan. Check the account selector when comparing what two people see.

Use your personal account for plans that should stay separate from the household budget.

## Before making a change

* Confirm you selected the intended account.
* Review the Expense and the source of funding.
* Refresh the other device after a change if it still shows older data.

## Expense Suggestions

Expense Suggestion decisions belong to the shared account. Accepting, dismissing, or marking a suggestion already covered is a household decision rather than a private duplicate list.

## Developer access

An API key acts on the budgeting account that created it. It is not a mechanism for accessing someone else's account.
